The Hanseatic is a labour of love. But I’d love it even more if I could make a living off it.
I started The Hanseatic as a way to satisfy my journalistic curiosity about the region after relocating to the island of Bornholm in 2018. Without advertisers, and living in a country with cumbersome regulations for crowdfunding, keeping it going requires holding out a virtual hat and ask for contributions from individuals and organisations.
Indvidual readers are welcome to join The Hanseatic as members. For the time being, the benefit of membership is the satisfaction of helping to establish the foundation of a regional news outlet.
